Father’s Day seems to be one of the most difficult gift giving celebrations for me. Luckily, I have found some inexpensive ways to give that perfect gift to your dad or husband.
Here’s what you need-
- construction paper
- Mountain Dew
- Jelly Beans
- Rubber Cement
- Father’s Day card (or to save money you can make your own!)
- mini clothespins
- alphabet stamps
- stamp pad
If you’re a regular crafter, I’d be willing to bet that you can find most of these in your house.
It will also help if you have access to a printer.
1. I bought some of my dads favorite treats: Mountain Dew, Jelly Beans, and gum. Pick some of your mans favorites, get a little creative!
2. I found some great sayings for candies, drinks and treats online at Crafts by Friends. You can almost find any saying for any occasion for any candy! Once I found my sayings I spruced them up on the computer and then printed it out.
3. I then used rubber cement to glue the sayings to construction paper just to make it look a little better.
4. Finally, you end up with this.
If you need help coming up with sayings for your next gift of treats let me know!
Happy Father’s Day
If you are like me, you love the holidays and celebrations. However, I hate having to shop for the men in my life! They are all so complicated to shop for! Recently, a friend introduced me to what I think just might be the perfect gift for any guy, and I am so excited to share it with you!
Drumroll, please…Bacon Flowers!
Men have it easy; when all else fails they can buy flowers! But woman don’t have that easy way out, at least we didn’t. But now we do!
Here are the step-by-step directions!
- thick cut bacon
- fake roses- can be bought at Michaels
- broiler pan
First, roll the bacon slices with the fatty side, or thicker side, facing inwards. Then place toothpicks through the bacon in order to hold it together. You can then cook the bacon on a broiler pan according to the package, or until crisp.
Second, take your fake flowers and pull the flowers off the stems.
Lastly, place your cooked bacon buds on the stems where your flower petals used to be. I would recommend washing the stems before placing the bacon on them. No glue or anything is needed. The bacon buds should just fit right in!
And now your bacon flowers are finished! Try and create your very own bacon bouquet!
Get creative and make an even more lavish bacon bouquet! If you do, send me your pictures. I’d love to see your creativity!
Valentine’s Day seems to be a holiday that many people struggle with when it comes to gift giving. When we were all younger we exchanged cute valentines of our favorite characters to all our friends. Now, we’re older and dating, or married, and something tells me a cute valentine of TV characters will simply not do.
But do not worry! I have found the perfect gift idea for Valentine’s Day, or any holiday really. Best of all, anyone can be creative enough to do it. And it won’t empty your wallet.
Baskets! That’s your answer. Gift baskets have been around for a while. There are even some companies that will put together baskets for you and deliver them to their destination, such as Gourmet Gift Baskets or Jackie’s Baskets. However, companies like these tend to be kind of pricy. To avoid the expensive cost of baskets I’m going to show you how you can make your own gift baskets for cheap!
My favorite place for gift basket shopping is Target. It offers a variety of inexpensive items in its dollar section that work great for a project like this.
First, you need to find a basket for all your goodies. The following two pictures are baskets that were both purchased from the Target dollar section.
These baskets each cost only $3. Once you have your basket you can begin stuffing them.
There are three simple rules when it comes to basket making:
- Pick a theme.
- Purchase one or two nice items. For example, a gift card, nail polish, T-shirt, phone case, etc.
- Browse the dollar section at Target. It always offers useful things to choose from!
These baskets cost less than $25 but are such a great hit. Take your nice items and combine them with the simple items. Load them in your basket and you’ve got a home-run gift!
